Matilda is a
multigeneration Australian Labradoodle.
She was born March 21, 2006 at
Cherry Valley Labradoodles. She was a
little over four months old when I got her at the beginning of August. I began
taking her to school with me as I worked in my room getting ready to start my
year teaching kindergarten. Matilda was so well behaved that I was able
to continue bringing her to my classroom with me when school began in
September. Matilda loves and is loved by
students, parents, and staff at Foothill Country Day School in Claremont. As we
walk into school, we are always greeted, “Matilda!!!” She brings smiles to the
faces of both adults and children and is welcomed with outstretched arms.
Matilda completed obedience classes and
earned her Canine Good Citizen Certificate in May 2007. In March 2008 Matilda became a certified
Delta Society Therapy Dog, and in May she became a Reading Education Assistance
Dog with Intermountain Therapy Animals.
In addition to attending my kindergarten
class, Matilda participates in the Upland Library Pawpals program. Matilda also loves being athletic. Since
November of 2007 Matilda and I have been taking agility classes. That has been great fun for both of us. Matilda
also likes playing fetch in our yard and she loves treats of any kind.
In the future I would be interested in
visiting hospitals, retirement homes, and nursing homes with Matilda.
